As August ends and the seasons shift, women’s leadership and visionary Jensine Larsen continues to ensure women’s voices are heard and drive meaningful change.

August is a time of threshold. The change in sunlight becomes obvious, as shadows of dusk arrive earlier each evening. August reminds me of the sound of a lion’s long roar, a fierce tribute to the fecund season where time speeds up! I’ve also been seeing spider webs, another sign of the turning times. On the national, political front, we see a new season of story around leadership and women’s voices, indeed–stirring up hope upon history’s horizon.

Leadership through song and our stories

Speaking of voices, I recently watched “The Singing Revolution,” the documentary about how the people of Estonia found their independence from Soviet dominance through a centuries-old tradition of sharing in sound, singing songs that emerge from the loyal heart of belonging. The act of singing in community is where we naturally come together, and such fields of deep-rooted song made possible a non-violent, peaceful revolution in that country. Singing sustained the dream of freedom. I think, too, of my Irish ancestry and how the sacred arts of music, poetry and dance kept the soul alive, a theme of homecoming I explore in Episode Two of Original Belonging. Our stories of hope are analogous to our songs, the ones that speak to what’s possible for a most robust and caring life on this planet where everyone’s heart is heard.

Women’s Leadership: Jensine Larsen

For two decades, I have been inspired by the work of Jensine Larsen, Founder of WorldPulse.org, the global digital platform bringing women’s voices out to the forefront; this is a different kind of singing field — a resonating story field of voices speaking to power and hope, woven around the globe.

We’re on this earth together, yet often we women of the west don’t hear the voices of those in other parts of the world. Jensine’s work has been a game-changer. I am honored to be in conversation with this visionary woman and global women’s silence breaker on the podcast “Original Belonging.” Jensine’s story is one of overcoming childhood shyness to co-creating a global, digital platform honoring women’s voices of leadership and change, catalyzing revolutionary and evolutionary transformations globally. We call each other into being when our stories are witnessed. That’s when we hear a field of lions roar! Thank you, Jensine.
